The Bill Cowan Award – Alumnus of the Year recognises outstanding achievements by a Trinity alumnus.
In its first year, the award attracted a remarkably large number of nominees, from a wide range of TC years and areas of interest and expertise.
The award committee thanks all the nominators for their effort in their nominations. The committee also acknowledges the commitment of all those nominated to both the College and the wider community.
Dr Best was nominated by his son Marcus Best (TC 1985) for his life-long commitment to the medical field, his work as Director of Clinical Training for the Murray to Mountains (M2M) intern training program, and – along with his wife Janine Sargent – their philanthropic contributions to the College and elsewhere.
At the 2014 Union of the Fleur-de-Lys Drinks Under the Oak, Bill Cowan (TC 1963) presented the award to Dr Best.
In his humble acceptance speech, Jack reminisced about his years at Trinity College, and recalled his time as one of the first students to live in the Jeopardy Building.
