Where did you grow up?
I grew up in China and lived in Shijiazhuang – the capital of Hebei Province.
When did you decide that you’d like to study abroad?
I decided to study abroad when I was in high school. I hoped to experience a different academic environment and pursue the subjects I am passionate about.


Why did you choose Australia?
My brother lives in Melbourne and he recommended the University of Melbourne to me.
Why did you choose Trinity College?
Because the foundation studies program at Trinity College was my best path to the University of Melbourne. I learned about the curriculum and campus from the school’s official website and I was very excited even before coming to Trinity.
How would you describe your experience at Trinity College?
I found my time at Trinity College to be very fulfilling and enjoyable. The lecturers and tutors are professional and I received much help from them through our interactions. The Student Experience team also frequently organised many interesting activities.

Were your classes different to what you were used to in China?
Yes, it was completely new to me. The combination of lectures and tutorials is more conductive to understanding and applying knowledge because it gives us the opportunity to practice and communicate with our tutors.
What were you most excited about when it came to moving to Australia?
Since moving to Australia, the thing that excites me the most is the natural scenery. I can take public transportation anytime to go hiking in the suburb. Australia’s ecosystem is also great. I often see parrots in the city and the suburbs.

What were your first impressions of Melbourne?
My first impressions of Melbourne were that it's friendly and diverse with a mix of modern and historic buildings. I love the lively art scene and many green spaces. Melbourne offers a perfect balance of city life and nature, making it an exciting and free place to live and study.
How did you find the transition to living in Australia and starting Foundation Studies?
As an international student, adapting to a new culture and environment took some time. But the friendly community and support from the wellbeing team helped ease the process.
Also, Foundation Studies at Trinity College prepared me well for university by providing me with solid academic foundations. The experience of independent living and studying has greatly contributed to my personal growth.
Would you recommend Trinity College to other students in your country?
Yes, definitely. Trinity College offers a well-rounded education that prepares students for future success in University of Melbourne.
