What class do you teach?

English for Academic Purposes (EAP)

What do you enjoy most about teaching at Trinity College?

There is something special about Trinity, which you feel the moment you step onto our beautiful campus. The people are wonderful, and I am always greeted by a ‘hello’ from students and staff, even if I don’t know them – it’s a great feeling.

Also, I love being part of the students’ journey as they develop the skills and knowledge that helps them prepare for university, and equally I learn a lot about their cultures and countries.

Finally, I enjoy having the opportunity to work on projects that require me to meet staff in different subjects and across different parts of the College. I learn something new every day!

What is one of your favourite memories or conversations from a Trinity class and why?

At the beginning of each year when I meet my new students, everyone is quiet in class, but after a class or two, there is a special moment when students start to collaborate with one another, share their stories and I can see that they are having fun learning. There is a positive vibe in the class and when I walk around Trinity, my students will say hello and talk about anything and everything.

When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I always wanted to do something that allowed me to help others, be creative and feel challenged by what I do. I am fortunate to have this at Trinity in my two roles as an EAP teacher and eLearning project officer.

What is your favourite thing about Australia and why?

Australia is multicultural and so it is great to be able to meet and work with people from different countries and learn about different cultures and traditions.

What are your three favourite things about Melbourne?

People, food and the city itself – I think the reason for these choices is rather obvious!

What is your favourite place in Australia and why?

I love Queensland as the weather is always beautiful (or at least the times that I have been). It is one place where I truly relax, especially when I go for walks on the beach.

What is your favourite Australian animal and why?

I love koalas as they look so cute and cuddly.

What is the most valuable piece of advice you’ve been given?

Whatever you decide to do in life, make sure it is something that you are passionate about.

What do you wish you could go back and tell your 18-year-old self?

Follow your intuitions as most times, they will be right!

What advice would you give to a student who is thinking about studying Foundation Studies at Trinity?

Come and join us at Trinity! It will be an amazing journey and you will grow in ways that you could not have imagined. You will treasure this experience forever!

What would make the world a better place?

Respect, empathy and peace.

Which activities make you lose track of time?

I enjoy watching a good movie as I truly become absorbed in it.

What is your life philosophy?

Never look back, focus on what makes you happy and believe in yourself!
