The performance follows on from the success of last year's concert of the St Matthew Passion; the Choir will again play the chorus. Trinity College alumna, Siobhan Stagg (TC 2007) has been invited to sing the soprano solos, and Trinity College Director of Music, Mr Michael Leighton Jones will sing the role of Jesus.
Additionally, Trinity College Chaplain, the Revd Dr Andreas Loewe, will present a pre-concert lecture at 2.15pm in the Melbourne Recital Centre Salon, on how Bach brings the story of the Passion to life through music.
Michael said the Choir was delighted to again be involved with the Melbourne Recital Centre.
'The Choir is hard at work rehearsing and preparing for our performance and we're looking forward to presenting another beautiful piece of music,' he said.
'With a solo performance from Siobhan and being directed by Stephen Layton, Director of Music at Trinity College Cambridge, the performance is sure to be outstanding.'
All are welcome to attend.
Tickets can be purchased from the Melbourne Recital Centre.
Entry to the pre-concert lecture is free of charge.
