Land of Dreams features a collection of pieces connected by the common themes of dreaming and sleep, both in the spiritual and secular sense and it follows on from the successful release of Beneath the Incense Tree, a disc of music for Advent and Christmas.
The centrepiece of the recording is the extraordinary Mass of the Dreaming, written by Ross Edwards, one of the most respected figures of contemporary Australian music. Paired with the Mass is Alice Chance’s new setting of the Revd Lenore Parker’s prayer God of holy dreaming, written specially for the recording, and the disc also includes repertoire by other contemporary Australian composers, including Trinity chorister Daniel Riley, whose William Blake setting was also written especially for the project.
The choir recorded the disc in Oxford at the end of its European tour in 2018, and is delighted to announce that it has been chosen as Disc of the Month in the October 2019 edition of Limelight Magazine. It is available on Spotify, Apple Music and other streaming sites, and physical copies are on sale from the online Trinity shop.
