Jo Ann Chan

Jo Ann Chan has come to Trinity from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and is studying Biomedicine with the aim of one day securing a position to study Medicine.

Jo Ann is passionate about helping people and has done a lot of community service work, including physical therapy for the disabled (helping them to relax and being reassured), working with her Dad at Operation Smile, whose target is free dental care and youth charity.

Jo Ann is also passionate about saving the environment and is driven to improve the lives of others.

Ardeshir Sahmeddini

Ardeshir Sahmeddini is originally from Shiraz in Iran. He arrived in Australia eight years ago with no English and went into Year 7 at Lyndale High School in Victoria.

He excelled academically and received the marks to get into the University of Melbourne studying Biomedicine. Now in his third year of College and University, he studies a Bachelor of Biomedicine and is Majoring in Human-structure and Function.

Ardeshir is also studying towards a Diploma in Modern Languages in French. He is a Foundation Studies Mentor and has done voluntary tutoring as part of outreach at Brunswick Secondary College.

Currently, on a Cybec Scholarship, Dr Susan Lim is supporting Ardeshir with the following additional opportunities including intensive French Language course during the winter break.

This opportunity will allow him to complete his Diploma in French and his Bio Medicine degree in three years instead of four years and thus go straight into Medicine next year.

“Dr Susan Lim's support has enabled me to acquire a well-rounded education, as not only I will be completing my Bachelor of Biomedicine but also by the end of this year I will also be perfecting my language skills in French, making me trilingual,” says Ardeshir. “Having the opportunity to ameliorate my French in its native country is invaluable to me and undoubtedly this will make the highlight of my Bachelor's degree on top of having had the pleasure of living in Trinity College for the past three years!”

Director of Advancement, Scott Charles, says both Jo Ann and Ardeshir are making significant contributions to the Trinity community and that they will make an “incredible impact on the world”.

The College thanks Dr Susan Lim and our generous donors for their ongoing support in providing opportunities for our students to imagine and achieve a better world.
