Applications for Semester 1, 2025 have now closed.
Trinity welcomes applications from students who plan to apply for undergraduate study at the University of Melbourne or the University of Divinity. We currently don't accept graduates or non-residential students.
If you want to join the Choir of Trinity College and live in our residential college, you will need to apply for the choir and residential college separately. Applications to live at Trinity's residential college need to be made through the University of Melbourne College's website, as per the steps below. Students who would also like to join the choir will need to request an audition. (Those who want to sing, but not live on campus, can also request an audition.)
Around 10% of the Trinity College community identifies as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and we strongly encourage First Nations students to apply. Financial assistance is available through our generous scholarship program if you need it and we have dedicated Indigenous programs to support and promote First Nations initiatives within our community.
Trinity College accepts international students who are part of the University of Melbourne's study abroad or exchange programs.

We believe everyone has the right to access higher education. Trinity has the largest scholarship program of all of the University of Melbourne colleges, offering $2.3 million in financial assistance to more than one-third of our students.
Visit our scholarships page to find out what financial assistance may be available to you.
The first thing you'll need to do to apply for Trinity College is submit an application through the University of Melbourne's Colleges website, making sure you select Trinity College as your first option.
All University of Melbourne college applications must be made through this website.
After you've submitted your application, our Admissions Team will send you an email to guide you through the rest of the application process.
To complete your application, you will be asked to provide:
* Please note we only accept electronic documents.
Once we've received all your paperwork you'll be invited to attend an interview with two people from our Residential Team. Interviews are conducted online, generally between August and November.
We then assess all applications. Successful applicants will receive an email with a letter of offer after the application closing date. Offers are sent on a rolling basis, so don't be alarmed if you hear about someone else receiving an offer.
If you're unsuccessful we will send you an email to let you know. All applicants have the option to join another college, or join the Trinity waiting list.
The number of students we accept varies from year to year, but we always take as many students as we can.
As your application is usually submitted before you receive your Year 12 results or university grades, you need to let us know your ATAR score or equivalent (your final grades) as soon as you find out.
You'll also need to forward us an electronic copy of your letter of offer from the University of Melbourne when you receive it.

Each year, Trinity College receives many more applications than we have available space. This means that the College always begins the academic year at full capacity. There are, however, occasions when students are unable to join us at the beginning of the year, or who need to give up their place very early into the semester (sometimes people decide that university isn’t for them, or family commitments mean they need to return home).
As these unexpected spaces can open up in the College at any time throughout semester, we operate a 'late starter' process for anyone who may be interested in joining us during a semester. If you wish to apply as a late starter, please email residentialcollege@trinity.unimelb.edu.au for details on how to apply.
Please note, if you're hoping to join us at the beginning of a semester, please apply via the apply button at the top of this page.
Yes, all candidates will go through the same application process as regular candidates to ensure suitability to join our cohort of young people.
Unfortunately not. If you are willing to wait however, our experience is that spots do become available throughout the semester as people’s plans can change.
If you start late in semester one, you will be eligible to join our semester two O-week, packed full of the same training as you would receive in semester one.
