How to Apply

Make an appointment for a tour if you'd like to visit and ask about our facilities and special programs. You'll be impressed by our students' passion for life, their achievements, and by how much fun they have.

Applications for Semester 1 2018 are now open and will close on the 31 October 2017.

Step 1

Undergraduates: Complete the online application form, selecting Trinity College as your college of first preference.

Note that this form is used to apply to ALL colleges at the University of Melbourne.

Trinity does not accept Graduate applications.

Step 2

After a student’s application for residency has been received, the College will email the link to the next form, please follow the email prompts. To complete your application you will be asked to provide:

  • copy of your most recent transcript/results

  • the application fee

  • a scan of a passport-style photograph.

  • a statement of 300–500 words about themselves indicating their interests, ambitions and reasons for applying to Trinity College

  • written references (using the form provided) from one academic and one personal referee

  • a copy of their final school marks (undergraduates) or transcript of previous results (graduates and those already at university), when available.

An application is complete on receipt of all these items by the College.

Step 3

Attend a short interview with a member of the Residential College staff.

Interviews are conducted between August and November at a mutually convenient time for the applicant and the College. Interstate and international applicants who are unable to attend an interview in person will be offered an interview via Skype or telephone. 

Step 4

As applications for residence must usually be submitted well before the issue of Year 12 results or final degree awards, applicants must advise the College of their ATAR score (or equivalent), or final grade, as soon as it is known.

Upon receiving an offer from the University of Melbourne, applicants should also forward a copy of their ‘Letter of Offer’ via email.

Successful applicants will be notified by telephone in January.

There are occasionally opportunities for students to enter the College at the commencement of the second Semester. All enquiries about mid-year entry should be directed to the Registrar by email or phone (+61 3 9348 7109).
