Who Can Apply

Trinity College Foundation Studies is specifically designed for international students wishing to succeed within the Australian university system and beyond.

Trinity College Foundation Studies is a course specifically for international students who satisfy entry requirements and who wish to:

  • sample university life in Australia
  • join a strong community of like-minded students from around the world
  • gain entry to the University of Melbourne and other Australian universities.

Is this program for me?

Foundation Studies students are:

  • at least 16 years of age at the time of commencement
  • high-achieving secondary students in their countries of origin
  • planning to study a specific course at the University of Melbourne or another university in Australia or overseas.

Students under 18 years of age must arrange Trinity-approved accommodation for the duration of their course prior to applying for a student visa to study in Australia. Trinity’s Accommodation Office can assist with this process.

Australian and New Zealand citizens

Citizens from Australia and New Zealand are not eligible to apply for TCFS.

Recent changes in policy indicate that some students with permanent resident status in Australia may be eligible to apply, however these students must meet certain conditions. Please check your eligibility with our admissions office by emailing foundationstudies@trinity.unimelb.edu.au 

Students with temporary resident status in Australia and permanent resident status in New Zealand are eligible.
